OVERVIEW
This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro coupe was collector-owned for the last 15 years and is powered by a 355cid V8 crate engine mated to a TREMEC five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes power steering, power disc brakes, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Hotchkis sway bars, subframe connectors, and a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. Finished in Matador Red with black striping and featuring a black vinyl roof over a modernized black vinyl interior, this first-generation Camaro is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The refinished Matador Red exterior is accented with satin black striping for the nose and the body beltline. Features include chrome bumpers, louvered hood inlets, SS badging, an antenna, a driver-side mirror, a spoiler, and a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
The 17-inch Coys C-5 five-spoke chrome wheels are wrapped in 225/45 front and 275/40 rear Z-rated Falken Ziex tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is furnished with late-model black vinyl bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, padded dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include simulated woodgrain trim and a retro-look AM/FM/cassette radio connected to Pioneer speakers.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a column-mounted Equus 8,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 27,852 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The crate-sourced 355cid V8 has been upgraded with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, headers, and an MSD ignition system. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted TREMEC five-speed manual transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping is performed by power-assisted disc brakes. Steering is also power-assisted. The suspension has front and rear Hotchkis sway bars, subframe connectors, and rear traction bars.
