OVERVIEW
This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mark III has been with the same owner since new and was put through a frame-off restoration completed in 1997. It is powered by a rebuilt 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine backed by a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include power front disc brakes, rebuilt dual carburetors, bucket seats, seat belts, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo. Finished in Healey Blue Metallic and equipped with a dark blue vinyl convertible top over a dark blue vinyl interior, this Austin-Healey comes from the selling dealer with the original metal service plate, jack, jack handle, lead hammer, tonneau cover, and top boot; service and restoration records; and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the restoration performed by Garland Gentry of the Classic Car Center in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the exterior was finished in the reportedly original color of Healey Blue Metallic. Features include chrome bumpers, a chrome grille and hood scoop trim, headlight stone guards, a chrome windshield frame, dual mirrors, a manual folding dark blue vinyl convertible top, and a rear-mounted fuel filler.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 15-inch chrome knock-off wire wheels is wrapped in Dunlop and Michelin tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front bucket seats and the rear seat are upholstered in dark blue vinyl. Features include manual windows and steering, a center console-mounted manual transmission shifter, a three-spoke steering wheel with a wood rim, dark blue vinyl trim, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo, and woodgrain dashboard trim.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
The Smiths gauges include a 140-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and readouts for the fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The odometer reads 75,375 miles, which the selling dealer reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a rebuilt 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine and backed by a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. According to the selling dealer, the engine produces 150 horsepower and the dual SU HD8 carburetors were rebuilt during the restoration process.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Austin-Healey was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Footage of the exterior, interior, engine bay, and the car being driven is in the video below. The selling dealer charges a $295 documentation fee in addition to the sale price of the car. They will include the original metal service plate, jack, jack handle, lead hammer, tonneau cover, and top boot, and service and restoration records with the purchase of the vehicle.
@NickandKris7811 – Is this Car a Non-Smoking Car ...
I just spoke to the seller and he reports that he knows it hasn't been smoked in since at least 1979--almost 20 years before it's restoration.
