@WRumpel – The assembly and machine work were done by "Performance Automotive Machine" out of Axtell, TX. The block was cleaned, sonic tested, surfaced, and bored .060 over. Using a four-inch stroker crank the cubic inches were increased to 396ci. ...
There are articles out there from Motor Trend - taking the 318 Poly Head motor up to a 426, producing 550 hp. https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/426-cube-318-poly-can-outgun-hemis/ This motor is a bit milder, has stock exhaust and a bit lower compression. It will definitely last longer. Even with two 4-barrel carburetors, the fuel mileage cruising is in the mid-teens. Super motor, with power when you want it!
@bkoz52 – I'm curious how you can bore a 318 .060 and wind up with a 396'' engine? I realize the crank has a lot to do with it....but !? ...
