This 1949 Ford Custom is a two-door sedan that received a frame-off restoration consisting of new Maroon paint, re-chroming, replacement of the vehicle’s wiring, and a new interior. Power comes from a 239.4ci flathead V8 mated to a 3-speed column-shifted manual transmission. All components of this car are in proper working order, with service up to date. Acquired by the seller in August 2020, this Ford is offered with a car cover and a clean South Carolina title.
The car is finished in Maroon with chrome bumpers and side trim and features a split-pane front windshield and pop open rear vent windows. The odometer currently reads just over 43,000, with the restoration estimated to have been completed about 3,000 miles ago, while the seller has driven the car approximately 100 miles.
Painted steel wheels are fitted with polished hub caps and beauty rings and mounted with wide whitewall rubber. A matching spare tire is located in the trunk, while additional trim includes a polished exhaust tip.
The bench seats are finished with two-tone gray and cream factory-style seat upholstery with complimentary door panels, carpeting, cloth weather stripping, and cloth headliner.
A white two-spoke steering wheel fronts a gray painted dash housing a 100 mph speedometer, clock, a factory AM radio, and Magic Air temperature control system. Brightwork includes handles and knobs, and are intact throughout. The odometer shows just over 43k miles with total mileage unknown.
Power comes from a 239.4ci flathead 8-cylinder supplied by a single-barrel carburetor with a factory rated 100hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted 3-speed manual gearbox.
Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the gallery.

@boeinggirl – Thank you for your Bid! We bought it as a rebuilt engine and fully restored car that was done 3000 miles ago from a very old man. I hope the pictures of the enginee do it justice. This is a completely rebuilt engine that is extremely clean and quiet. You can tell it has the 100hp engine that it is rated at. The whole electrical system was rewired at that time too. It has a new oil filled air cleaner with appropriate stickers for 1949. Thank you!!! ...
After thought.... I hope you saw the video. There are 2, one walk around and the other of the engine running.
@JACKBDONE – Question, was the engine ever rebuilt? ...
