OVERVIEW
This 1979 Pontiac Trans Am is powered by a 6.6-liter V8 backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering and brakes, power windows, bucket seats, a shaker hood scoop, and a Pypes performance exhaust system. EXTERIOR – FEATURES
Originally blue, the exterior is currently finished in black. Features include hood and sail panel Firebird logos, a shaker hood scoop, color-keyed sport mirror housings with a manual driver-side remote, a color-matched rear spoiler, and Trans Am decals.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 15-inch Centerline aluminum wheels is wrapped in P225/60R15 front and P275/50R15 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The seller states that new lug nuts were installed in March 2023.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front bucket seats and the rear seat are upholstered in black vinyl. Features include power windows and steering, a center console-mounted automatic transmission shifter, and black trim. The seller states that the factory air conditioning system has been removed.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
The seller states that the tachometer does not work and a new fuel gauge was installed in April 2023. The odometer reads 58,273 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 6.6-liter V8 backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, aluminum heads, a shaker air cleaner assembly, and an aluminum intake manifold. New parts that were installed in 2023 include the oil filter, Edelbrock Thunder Series AVS four-barrel carburetor, throttle return bracket, stainless headers, air filter, fuel pump, and carburetor gasket.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Trans Am was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A new Pypes dual exhaust system with Pypes Race Pro mufflers and three-inch front and rear pipes was installed in 2023.
