1987 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL

OVERVIEW

This 1987 Buick Grand National sport coupe receives power from a turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. It was delivered when new to Sendell Motors, Inc. in Greensburg, Pennsylvania and purchased by its original owner with 10 miles on the odometer on December 23, 1986. Equipment includes power front disc brakes, power steering, a Delco audio system, and a performance suspension. Finished in Black over a black and gray cloth interior, this Grand National is now offered by the selling dealer with a window sticker, owner’s booklets, receipts, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The Black (code 19U) exterior was repainted under prior ownership per the selling dealer. Exterior features include color-keyed bumpers with guards, quad headlights, mud flaps, removable glass roof panels, a power antenna, a decklid spoiler, and a dual exhaust system. The selling dealer notes some paint chips on the body. 

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Chrome 15-inch wheels are wrapped in 225/60 Kumho tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with two-tone black and light gray cloth (code 583) bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, dash, carpeting, and center console. Amenities include power windows, power steering, power door locks, Soft Ray tinted glass, intermittent windshield wipers, air conditioning, a lighted vanity mirror, cruise control, a tilt steering column, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a Delco AM/FM/cassette sound system. The selling dealer’s video states that the air conditioning system is not blowing cold.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation consists of an 85-mph speedometer, a digital tachometer, and gauges for the boost and fuel levels. Auxiliary gauges have been mounted to the driver-side A-pillar. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 48,560 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown. The CARFAX report shows a Potential Odometer Rollover in 2014.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 was rated at 245 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque when new. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted four-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping comes from power-assisted disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. Handling is performed by a Grand National-specific performance suspension.
