OVERVIEW
This Brazilian-built 1966 Volkswagen Type 2 23-window Samba was restored under prior ownership and is powered by a rebuilt 1.5-liter flat-four paired with a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission. Recent work includes service to the brakes, suspension, and wheel cylinders. Features include a sliding sunroof, roof basket, window curtains, and General tires. Finished in two-tone burgundy and cream over a matching vinyl three-row interior, this Type 2 is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The restoration completed under previous ownership included a refinish in the current burgundy and cream two-tone. The exterior features a nose emblem, painted bumpers with overriders, pop-out windshield panels, chrome mirror caps, a sliding sunroof, a driver-side-mounted step ladder, and a chrome rooftop luggage basket.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Body-color 14-inch steel wheels with VW-branded chrome hubcaps are wrapped in General tires with whitewall inserts.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The three-row interior has been refurbished and features two-tone burgundy and cream vinyl seats with accent piping, matched to the door panels. Amenities include safety belts, plaid curtains, rubber flooring, a dash-mounted fan, and a Roadstar AM/FM/cassette radio. A placard shows this vehicle was produced by Volkswagen of Brazil.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 100-km/h speedometer and a Bosch fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 46,607 kilometers (28,960 miles), but the true kilometrage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The rear-mounted, air-cooled 1.5-liter flat-four and four-speed manual transmission were reportedly rebuilt in 2022 under prior ownership.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Recent chassis work includes the replacement of the shock absorbers, bushings, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and brakes.
