OVERVIEW
This 1956 Mercury Montclair coupe was restored in 2019 and fitted with a 351cid Windsor V8, which is backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include shaved door handles, electric door poppers, power steering, an AM/FM radio, a Ford Explorer rear end, and power four-wheel disc brakes. Finished in black and ivory over a white vinyl and black cloth interior, this Montclair comes with an owner’s manual, receipts, and an Ontario, Canada vehicle permit in the seller's name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
Originally finished in Tuxedo Black (code 01), the reportedly rust-free body was repainted black and ivory in approximately 2015. Features include chrome bumpers, a fender-mounted antenna, dual rearview mirrors, shaved door handles with electric door poppers, rocker trim, and removable color-keyed rear wheel skirts.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of chrome steel wheels with smooth chrome dog dish hub caps is wrapped in whitewall radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is furnished with a white vinyl and black cloth front bench seat and a matching rear seat with a fold-down center armrest, flanked by black cloth and white vinyl door panels. Features include manual windows, power steering, a column-mounted automatic transmission shifter, and a custom-mounted Ford AM/FM radio. The seller states that air conditioning components are present but not operational.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, generator, and oil pressure are located ahead of the driver. A 7,000-rpm tachometer is mounted to the steering column; additional gauges for the amperage, oil pressure, and water temperature are located under the dashboard. The odometer reads 37,000 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 351cid Windsor V8 and backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, a four-barrel carburetor, a chrome air cleaner housing, and cast iron exhaust manifolds. The seller states that a tune-up was recently completed and a new battery and new wiring were installed. They add that the engine needs fine-tuning because it has trouble at idle.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Montclair is equipped with an independent front suspension and the rear end from a Ford Explorer. Braking is provided by power discs. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The seller will include an owner’s manual and receipts as part of the sale.

I inquired with a local auto paint shop and they reassured me that any paint colour can be matched by most auto paint dealers.

@bdodd10 – in the picture that shows mileage to the left of the emblem. Thanks for response ...
Oh sorry, do you mean the “white/cream” part? Not the upper dash. If you’re referring to the white/cream part near the emblem like you said, that is just a bit of scratched paint. It was like that when we got it. I just attached a better picture for you, hope it helps. Thank you for clarifying.
@CLPHawes – Not certain where you are referring to but there are no cracks in the dash. I pulled up the pictures to zoom in to see what you might be seeing but again, no cracks …might be the speaker you are seeing? ...

does the dash have a crack in it or is that something else ?
Yes the heater and gauges all work. There are no over heating issues. All the air conditioning equipment on the inside is there but nothing on the engine side. ie. compressor, brackets. Not certain on the restoration date, bought it like that.
Does the heater and factory gauges all work and are there any problems overheating with the 351 motor. Also are all the air conditioning parts ie hoses and lines all there. And how old is the restoration? Thanks. Also any idea on how much of a pain, and cost to ship to the states. Thanks. Nice looking vehicle.
