383-POWERED 1973 CHEVROLET CAMARO TYPE LT Z28 4-SPEED

OVERVIEW

This 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Pro Street build is powered by a 383cid V8 mated to a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission and an Eaton Detroit Locker rear end. Features include aluminum heads, a roller camshaft, a tubular roll cage, Weld wheels, power disc brakes, and power steering. Finished in silver with red striping over a black and light gray two-tone fabric interior, this second-generation Camaro is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The body underwent restoration under prior ownership and was repainted silver with red accent striping for the hood, decklid, and lower body. Features include a black chin spoiler, an RS nose, chrome bumpers, Z28 badging, a cowl-induction hood, hidden wipers, color-keyed mirror caps, a trunk-mounted spoiler, and quad taillights. The photo gallery to the right shows the car with the hood installed as well as removed.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Weld 15-inch five-spoke aluminum wheels are wrapped in 215/70 Dunlop GT Qualifier rubber up front and 29" x 8.5" Mickey Thompson racing tires in the rear.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cockpit is fitted with black and light gray cloth SCAT Procar racing bucket seats, complemented by black textures for the door panels, dash, and carpeting. A red four-point tubular roll cage has been added. Amenities include a six-point safety harness, tinted windows, Z/28 embroidered floor mats, woodgrain trim, a Sanyo AM/FM/cassette stereo, power steering, and a three-spoke leather-wrapped Lecarra steering wheel.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation consists of a factory 130-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. An auxiliary AutoMeter 10,000-rpm tachometer has been added to the steering column. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 57,000 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The upgraded 383cid V8 features aluminum heads and a roller camshaft. A vehicle safety inspection was carried out by the selling dealer. Power is transferred to the back wheels via a floor-shifted Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission and a nine-inch Eaton Detroit Locker rear end.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping comes from power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.
