OVERVIEW
This modernized 1983 Porsche 911SC Cabriolet draws power from an air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six mated to an overhauled five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes later-model bodywork and lighting along with 18-inch chrome wheels, a Pioneer audio system, and four-wheel power disc brakes. Finished in metallic blue and equipped with a manually retractable dark blue top over a gray leather interior, this modified 911SC is now offered with service records, a CARFAX report, and a clear title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The exterior has been repainted metallic blue and comes outfitted with aftermarket fender flares, a manual-retractable dark blue top, and a dual exhaust system with polished outlets. The body is reportedly rust-free and has been updated with later-style body work and lighting including 993-style headlights, aero mirror caps, and third brake light. In addition, it features 964-style components that include the rear wing, bumpers, side skirts, and taillights. The seller notes some scratches on the bottom of the front bumper and other cosmetic blemishes as shown in the photos to the right.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Chrome 18-inch five-spoke wheels are wrapped in 225/40 Falken Azenis front and 275/35 Nitto NT555 rear tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cockpit is fitted with 993-style gray leather power-adjustable bucket seats complemented by a dark blue dash and striped door panel inserts. Amenities include a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control, power door locks, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation consists of a 180-mph speedometer, a 7,500-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level and other vehicle vitals. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 51,673 miles, approximately 2,000 of which have been added during the seller’s seven years of ownership. The CARFAX report notes a potential odometer rollback in May 1999.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The air-cooled 3.0-liter flat six features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 172 horsepower and 189 lb-ft of torque when new. According to the seller, the fuel injection system, throttle body, and pedal box have received service. New throttle linkage bushings and a new starter were installed in May 2022. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted five-speed manual transaxle that was overhauled by 911 Design of Montclair, California in 2018.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping power comes from vented discs at all four corners. The braking system was serviced under the seller’s ownership.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
This 911 previously appeared on AutoHunter in February 2023, but it is now being relisted at a lower reserve price than before. The CARFAX report starts in January 1992 and shows a history in California that is free of accidents and damage. The vehicle passed a California emissions inspection in December 2022. Service records will be included as part of the sale of the car.
