LS3-POWERED 1969 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE MALIBU CONVERTIBLE

OVERVIEW

This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible moves under the power of a Holley fuel-injected LS3 6.2-liter V8 mated to a 4L60 four-speed automatic transmission. It has been upgraded with air conditioning, power steering, four-wheel Wilwood power disc brakes, Hotchkis Sport Suspension hardware, and a custom audio system. Finished in black and equipped with a new black retractable top over a black vinyl interior, this second-generation Chevelle is now offered by the selling dealer with a convertible top boot and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The body was painted black in 2018. Exterior features include quad headlights, SS badging, dual mirrors, and a dual exhaust system. The seller notes that there are some small paint scratches present, the hood has been adjusted since the photos were taken, and the 396 badging is not consistent with the car’s current powertrain.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

American Racing polished aluminum five-spoke wheels are sized 18 inches up front and 20 inches in the rear. Those are wrapped in 225/45 and 275/35 tires, respectively.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats up front, a rear bench, and matching materials for the door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include an aftermarket climate control system with air conditioning, power windows, power steering, rubber floor mats, cup holders, custom lighting, lap belts, a secondary battery system, and a Pioneer stereo with dual Rockford Fosgate amplifiers, a Zapco digital signal processor, and a custom trunk enclosure.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

The modern instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The digital odometer reads 137 miles, which is indicative of the accrued mileage on the drivetrain. The true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The LS3 6.2-liter V8 was installed within the last two years and has been serviced within the last few months. Equipment includes a Holley fuel injection system and an upgraded air intake. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 4L60 four-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping power comes from new four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes. The suspension has been upgraded with Hotchkis Sport Suspension components.
