1956 CHEVROLET BEL AIR 2-DOOR HARDTOP

OVERVIEW

This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop is powered by a 350cid V8 backed by a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The exterior has been refinished in the original two-tone color scheme of India Ivory over Sherwood Green (706D). Features include chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, a fender-mounted antenna, Bel Air side trim, and a hidden fuel filler. The selling dealer states that there are a couple of small impurities in the paint, which can be seen in the photos to the right. 

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of chrome 16-inch Cragar S/S wheels is wrapped in 225/60/R16 front and 235/60/R16 rear radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

Originally equipped with Green cloth and vinyl (code 580), the front bench seat, rear seat, rear trim, and door panels are now upholstered in pearl white vinyl. Features include manual windows, power steering, an AM/FM/cassette stereo with rear speakers, chrome garnish moldings, and a fully upholstered matching trunk.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 110-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and temperature are located ahead of the driver. An additional set of Stewart Warner gauges for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amps are mounted under the dashboard. A factory clock is mounted on the far right side of the dashboard. The odometer reads 78,229 miles, but the actual mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 350cid V8 and backed by a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, a chrome air cleaner housing, electric windshield wipers, and an electric fan.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Bel Air was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A dual exhaust system exists at the rear.
