OVERVIEW
This Brazilian-built 1971 Volkswagen Type 2 is a 23-window conversion that received an inside-and-out restoration and features an opening ragtop, privacy curtains, a 12-volt electrical system, and a newly serviced fuel system. It is powered by an air-cooled rear-mounted 1,500cc flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Finished in two-tone ivory and beige over an olive-brown and ivory vinyl three-row interior, this Volkswagen is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The two-tone ivory and beige exterior received new weatherstripping and seals, a 23-window conversion, new ivory bumpers, new badges, replacement brightwork, and new lights. Features include body-color bumpers, chrome headlight rings, safari-style pop-out windshield panels, red-accented bodyside moldings, a canvas ragtop roof, and a roof basket with wooden slats.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Color-keyed steel 14-inch wheels with VW-branded hubcaps are wrapped in blackwall tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The three-row cabin is trimmed with olive-brown and ivory vinyl seats, coordinating door panels, black rubber flooring, and matching safety belts. The rear passenger compartment is accessed via barn-style doors on the passenger side. The windows are equipped with privacy curtains.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 120-km/h speedometer and a fuel gauge. The odometer reads 75,021 kilometers (about 46,616 miles), although the selling dealer states that the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The rear-mounted, air-cooled 1,500cc flat-four uses a modernized 12-volt electrical system and benefits from new fuel lines and a replacement fuel tank. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted four-speed manual transaxle.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The dealer has provided images of the underbody in the gallery to the right.
