OVERVIEW
This custom-built 1949 Buick Model 56-S Super Sedanet incorporates modern equipment including front disc brakes, air conditioning, power steering, and a QA1 coilover suspension. It is powered by a 502cid big-block V8 crate engine mated to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a nine-inch limited-slip rear end. Finished in Rosso Corsa over a tan leather interior, this Buick restomod is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The body and upper grille were refinished in a Ferrari shade of red called Rosso Corsa during the build process. Features include frenched headlights, a split windshield, triple fender-mounted VentiPorts, shaved door handles, side mirrors, wheel skirts, molded rear fenders, and a 2.5-inch dual exhaust system with rectangular outlets.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Boyd Coddington polished aluminum 18-inch five-spoke wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is trimmed with tan leather upholstery which carries through to the door panels and dash along with matching lap belts, carpeting, and floor mats. Amenities include remote door poppers, power front windows, power steering, a Kenwood AM/FM/CD sound system, aluminum door sill plates, air conditioning, a clock, and an upholstered trunk with a Cadillac power trunk latch.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
The gauges from Classic Instruments include a 140-mph speedometer, 6,000-rpm tachometer, clock, and auxiliary readouts for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and gear selection. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 3,270 miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The crate-sourced General Motors 502cid big-block V8 has been upgraded with ceramic-coated Hooker Competition long tube headers and an Optima battery. Output is estimated by the dealer to be 500 horsepower. Power is transferred to the back wheels via a column-shifted 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford nine-inch limited-slip rear end.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The chassis utilizes a Chevrolet Camaro front end and features tubular control arms, rear ladder bars, QA1 coilovers at all four corners, and a louvered aluminum belly pan. Stopping power comes from front disc brakes and rear drums.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The dealer has provided a video with a walk-around, a start-up, and driving demonstrations.
