12-YEARS-OWNED 1968 PLYMOUTH ROAD RUNNER

OVERVIEW

This show-winning 1968 Plymouth Road Runner is a two-door hardtop that was restored about 12 years ago and receives power from a rebuilt 383cid V8 mated to a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. It comes with power steering, power brakes, a mild cam, and Magnum 500-style wheels. Finished in Surf Turquoise over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Road Runner is now offered by the selling dealer with build receipts, a build sheet, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The Surf Turquoise (code L) exterior was restored in 2011. Features include chrome brightwork, a driver-side mirror, Road Runner decals, and a full-width taillight trim panel.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES  

Magnum 500-style 15-inch wheels with polished lips are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires sized 205/70 up front and 245/60 in the rear.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cockpit is furnished with black vinyl bench seats at both the front and rear, matched to the door panels, dash, headliner, carpeting, and floor mats. Features include lap belts, power steering, a radio, a heater, and a vinyl-lined trunk mat with a spare tire.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a sweeping 120-mph speedometer, an inset 8,000-rpm tachometer, and factory gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and fuel level. Sunpro auxiliary gauges are mounted under the center of the dash and display the coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The selling dealer notes that the dash lights, tachometer, and fuel gauge are inoperative. The rolled-over odometer reads 101,067 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 383cid V8 was rebuilt within the last 1,500 miles and has been upgraded with a mild cam, hardened valve seats, and a refurbished radiator. The drivetrain is said to be leak-free. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a column-shifted TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission.
