20-YEARS-OWNED 1973 DE TOMASO PANTERA

OVERVIEW

This Italian-built 1973 De Tomaso Pantera was sold new by Peyton Lincoln-Mercury in California and resided with its previous owner for the last 20 years. It has reportedly been driven 60,127 miles since new. Power is provided by a Cleveland 351cid V8, which is mated to a ZF five-speed manual transaxle. Finished in white over a black vinyl interior, this Pantera is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The exterior was resprayed white under prior ownership and features pop-up headlights, black bumpers and mirror caps, a rear spoiler with a third brake lamp, and a quad-outlet exhaust system. The selling dealer has provided images of blemishes around the body in the gallery to the right.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

White 15-inch wheels are wrapped in new 225/50 Kumho Ecsta front and 255/60 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T rear tires that were installed in June 2023.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The two-person interior is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats, matched to the door panels, dash, seat belts, center console, and carpeting. Features include a carpeted dash mat, power windows, a heater, an AM/FM/cassette radio, and tinted windows. The dealer states that the driver's seat belt is not working, the air conditioning system needs a recharge, and there is wear on the dash and carpeting as shown in the gallery.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 200-mph speedometer, an inoperative 8,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges in the center stack for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 60,127 miles, which the selling dealer believes to be correct based on statements from the previous owner. The true mileage is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The Ford-sourced, mid-mounted Cleveland 351cid V8 received a tune-up in the summer of 2023 and is said to run well. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted ZF five-speed manual transaxle.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping is performed by four-wheel power disc brakes.
