1972 DODGE CHARGER

OVERVIEW

This 1972 Dodge Charger is presented by the selling dealer as a driver-quality muscle car that received interior and exterior updates later in life. It is powered by a rebuilt 318cid V8 mated to a rebuilt TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes hidden headlights, power steering, power front disc brakes, an AM/FM radio, and chrome brightwork. Finished in Bright Blue Metallic and equipped with a white vinyl canopy roof over a blue vinyl interior, this third-generation Charger is now offered by the dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The Bright Blue Metallic (code GB5) exterior was recoated in 2000 and is complemented by a white vinyl canopy (code V4W) roof covering that was installed at the same time. The original body panels and floors reportedly remain intact. According to the selling dealer, this Charger was ordered from the factory with hideaway headlamps (code A09/L37), which came standard on the Charger SE. Other equipment includes chrome brightwork, dual mirrors, tinted windows, rocker moldings, and a dual exhaust system.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Cragar chrome five-spoke wheels are wrapped in Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The refurbished interior is fitted with newer blue vinyl for the front and rear bench seats (code S2B5) along with matching materials for the door panels, dash, headliner, and newer carpeting. Features include woodgrain trim, an upgraded AM/FM radio, floor mats, manual-crank windows, and power steering. An air conditioning system is installed but not currently operational.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer, a clock, an under-dash 8,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 1,060 miles, which the selling dealer asserts is indicative of 201,060 actual miles. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 318cid V8 is fed via a two-barrel carburetor and has accrued 6,560 miles since being rebuilt and bored .010 over in 1996. The powertrain is reportedly mechanically sound. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a rebuilt TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Braking is power-assisted and comes from discs up front and drums in the rear.
