OVERVIEW

This 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible is an older restoration powered by its reportedly original 1.6-liter air-cooled flat-four mated to an upgraded four-speed manual transaxle. It was originally sold new by Riviera Motors in Portland, Oregon in June 1970 and has reportedly only had two owners. Features include a radio, chrome brightwork, and VW-branded hubcaps. Finished in red and equipped with a black retractable top over a black vinyl interior, this Karmann Ghia is now offered by the selling dealer with a convertible boot, an owner’s manual, a window sticker, documentation, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The body was repainted red under prior ownership. Features include chrome bumpers, bodyside moldings, script badging, and twin exhaust outlets.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Steel 15-inch wheels with VW-branded hubcaps are wrapped in blackwall tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats up front and a compact bench in the rear, matched to the door panels, dash, and carpeting. Features include lap belts, a radio, map pockets, a padded dash, floor mats, and manual-crank windows.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

The VDO-branded instrumentation includes a 90-mph speedometer, clock, and fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 94,379 miles, which the selling dealer reports to be the car's actual mileage.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The reportedly original air-cooled, rear-mounted 1.6-liter flat-four transfers power to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted four-speed manual transaxle that replaced the original transmission. A safety inspection has been performed.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Braking is performed by front discs and rear drums.
