OVERVIEW
This 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was exported from Japan to Colombia, where it received a frame-off restoration in 2014. In 2019, it was imported into the U.S. It is equipped with its reportedly numbers-matching 4.2-liter I6 and four-speed manual transmission, both of which have been rebuilt. Features include power steering and front disc brakes, front bucket seats, folding rear jump seats, and a dual-range transfer case. Finished in green and equipped with a tan soft top over a gray vinyl interior, this garage-stored Land Cruiser comes with a 2023 New York safety certificate and a clear title in the seller's name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the frame-off restoration, the Japanese-built body was refinished in green. Features include silver bumpers, a white grille, a folding windshield, dual rearview mirrors, a tan soft top with roll-up side curtains, and a rear-mounted spare tire. The seller states the soft top's side curtains are used often and work well.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of white 15-inch steel wheels with manual locking front hubs is wrapped in 7.00-15 JK Tyre radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is furnished with gray vinyl front bucket seats, matching rear jump seats, gray door panels, and green trim. Features include manual windows, power steering, floor-mounted manual transmission and transfer case shifters, and a black rubber floor mat.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
An 85-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and battery are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 14,320 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The rebuilt 4.2-liter I6 and rebuilt four-speed manual transmission are reportedly numbers-matching. Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a dual-range transfer case.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Land Cruiser was factory-equipped with a solid front axle, a solid rear drive axle, and part-time four-wheel drive. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums.
