Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1966 Ford Mustang Hardtop is powered by a 289cid V8 backed by a C4 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering, front disc brakes, and an electronic ignition. Finished in white over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The exterior is finished in white with blue GT350 side stripes. Features include chrome bumpers, front fog lights, a fender-mounted antenna, and a driver-side rearview mirror.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 15-inch polished aluminum wheels is wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with front bucket seats and a matching rear seat upholstered in black vinyl and surrounded by black vinyl door panels and trim. Features include manual windows, power steering, a nonfunctional Ford AM radio, a Grant steering wheel with a wood rim, and a floor-mounted automatic transmission shifter.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 140-mph speedometer, an Equus 8,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and more are located ahead of the driver. The odometer shows approximately 17,400 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a Ford 289cid V8 (casting number C5AE-6015-E) and backed by a C4 automatic transmission. Engine bay features include a COMP Cams camshaft, chrome valve covers, an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, a four-barrel Edelbrock 650-cfm carburetor, a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner housing, an electronic ignition, and an electric fan.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Mustang is equipped with an independent front suspension and an eight-inch solid rear drive axle with 2.80:1 gears and a Traction-Lok differential. Braking is provided by manual front discs and rear drums. A dual exhaust system with Thrush glasspack mufflers exits at the rear through dual rear valance-exit exhaust outlets.

Based on what we can see and view from the few photos of restoration. The floor pans are factory, appears they replaced a fender. But all sanded to metal prior to paint.

@dasmoose – What is located under the dash, just below the stock factory radio ? I don't find anything noted in your overview listing to any additional aftermarket electronic component, like AM/FM Stereo, CD Player, etc., - I flunked the knowledge test. ...

Below the radio is an aftermarket accessory ports and switches to power the ports and aftermarket fog lights.
