OVERVIEW
This 1961 MG MGA roadster received $38,000 in updates and upgrades that include a body-off restoration and a rebuild of the 1.6-liter inline-four, which is connected to a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission with a new clutch. It is a reportedly rust-free California car with 26,289 miles on the odometer and has been garaged and covered under the seller’s ownership. Finished in dark red and equipped with a black soft top over a black vinyl interior, this MGA is now offered with a tan tonneau cover, clip-in side windows, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The dark red exterior was restored under current ownership and features chrome bumpers with overriders, fender-mounted mirrors, and a trunk-mounted chrome luggage rack.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
The 15-inch wire wheels have knock-off center caps and are wrapped in 165SR15 Michelin XZX tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The two-seat cockpit is fitted with black vinyl low-back buckets with red contrasting piping, matched to the door panels, dash trim, lap belts, and carpeting. Features include a cassette radio, a center armrest, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a banjo-style steering wheel, and a spare tire inside the carpeted trunk.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
The Jaeger-branded instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the oil pressure and coolant temperature. A clock and a voltage meter have been mounted underneath the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 26,289 miles, which the seller believes to be a true reading.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The carbureted 1.6-liter inline-four has been rebuilt and was reportedly serviced around May 2023. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission equipped with a new clutch.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Braking is performed by front discs and rear drums.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
This MGA was previously sold on AutoHunter in October 2023, but it is being relisted after the buyer backed out of the transaction. This was not due to a problem with the car or an issue with the seller. The sale includes a tan vinyl snap-in tonneau cover and clip-in side windows.
The first time I listed this car it was bid to 29500 I decided to let it sell the winning bidder didn’t follow through . The car is always in a heated and cooled garage with my new car coming soon I have no choice but to sell it I hate to let it go this cheap but it’s to nice of a car to park outside with a cover winter is coming soon . I have decided to accept the same offer 29500 will buy it today good luck to all bidders someday is going to get a great car cheap.
The last time I listed it it was one of his picks of the day
Please look at the pictures and comments recently posted by Diego’s comments on this car

Here's an AutoHunter Spotlight on the car: https://journal.classiccars.com/2023/10/07/autohunter-spotlight-1961-mg-mga-roadster/
To chookysmith yes sir you are absolutely correct there are a lot of people like what you described I can assure you I am not i am selling the car to make room for another one I do not need the money if you look at the pictures they were shot in my driveway take a look at my house in the back ground it’s a 3 million dollar house on 10 acres instead of trying to ruin my auction please have someone come look at the car if you want to bid on it I will gladly show it to them as for the mechanic at Tony’s auto repair he changed the oil in it and installed a new battery he is trying to buy it cheep so he can flip it nothing shady here
Why would I put my trust in a car repair shop that wants to buy the same car? So many things in this thread that don't add up. The original owner should supply you with some type of documentation to make this a bit more transparent and reasonable. There are too many people selling cars under vague conditions and when you win the bid and inspect the car, then you are very disappointed because you trusted them. Failed transactions may be a litmus test for the true value of the automobile being sold.
To chookismith sir you made this same comment last time and you never bid on the car as I said last time it was restored before I bought it as for a driving video I will be glad to post one if it will make you bid on the car why don’t you call Tony’s auto repair here in Lexington ky and ask him he is bidding on the car because he thinks he can flip it and make a profit
It is hard to believe the story when there are no receipts for the 38K invested, no receipts for the rebuilt motor or the rebuilt trans with new clutch. There is also no video of the car running.
