OVERVIEW
This 1959 Oldsmobile Super 88 coupe was restored inside and out under prior ownership and is powered by a Rocket 394cid V8 bolted to a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes Coker whitewall tires, power steering, auxiliary gauges, power brakes, and a dual exhaust system. Finished in Polaris White and Cardinal Red over a tri-tone red, gray, and ivory vinyl and cloth interior, this Super 88 is now offered with restoration records and a clear title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The Polaris White (code C) and Cardinal Red (code L) exterior was restored under the prior owner’s 28-year ownership. Features include quad headlights, rocker moldings, a driver-side mirror, an antenna, and a dual exhaust system with chrome tips. The seller notes imperfections in the paint that are not noticeable from 10 feet away.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 15-inch wheels with polished hubcaps are wrapped in Coker whitewall tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with red, gray, and ivory vinyl and cloth upholstery for the front and rear benches, matched to the door panels, metal dash, and carpeting. Features include power steering, a heater, manual-crank windows, lap belts, a radio, and courtesy lighting.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge. Aftermarket voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure gauges have been added under the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 79,251 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate. They note that the car had 52,358 miles on it when the original owner sold it in 1993.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The Rocket 394cid V8 is fed by a four-barrel carburetor and channels power to the rear wheels via a column-shifted three-speed automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Braking is performed by power-assisted drums.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Restoration records will accompany the car. The seller has provided videos with a cold start and a walk-around.
