Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1951 Nash Ambassador Custom Airflyte four-door sedan was restored several years ago and recently received an interior update. It is powered by a 350cid V8 backed by a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include an accessory windshield visor, power steering, an AM/FM/CD stereo, a tilt steering column, and rear air shocks coupled with an onboard air compressor and air tank. Finished in Klondike Brown over a tan vinyl and ivory cloth interior, this Airflyte-series Nash comes from the selling dealer with the removed original headliner bows, 1951 dealership correspondence, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration, the exterior was refinished in Klondike Brown (code 33). Features include chrome bumpers and grille, a fender-mounted antenna, a windshield visor, a driver-side mirror, and chrome trim. The selling dealer states that the exterior paint shows some patina and that rust is present in the trunk pans.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of red steel wheels with Nash full hubcaps is wrapped in radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with a front bench seat and a matching rear seat upholstered in tan vinyl and ivory cloth surrounded by newer tan vinyl and ivory cloth door panels and coordinating trim. Features include manual windows, a tilt steering column-mounted automatic transmission shifter, power steering, and an AM/FM/CD stereo and speakers mounted in a custom center console. A headliner is not installed, but the original bows are included as part of the sale.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 100-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure are located ahead of the driver. A pair of gauges for the coolant temperature and oil pressure is located under the dash. The odometer reads 37,212 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 350cid V8 and backed by a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, and a 12-volt electrical system. A safety inspection was recently completed.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Nash was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Adjustable rear air shocks, an onboard compressor, and an air tank have been installed. Stopping is performed by manual brakes. A single exhaust system exits at the rear.

Please provide photos of the undercarriage. Also, has Bondo been used anywhere on the vehicle?
