OVERVIEW
The 2022 restoration of this 1974 Volkswagen Type 2 single-cab pickup included the application of custom paint and the installation of 17-inch wheels and a new interior. It is powered by a rebuilt 1.6-liter air-cooled flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include safari-style windshield frames and hinged bed sides and tailgate. Finished in blue metallic over a black vinyl interior, this T1 Type 2 comes with restoration photos and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the restoration completed in 2022, this reportedly rust-free Volkswagen was refinished in metallic blue. Features include color-matched bumpers, early front turn signals, safari-style windshield frames, dual rearview mirrors, a storage box integrated into the passenger side of the bed, a hinged cargo area and tailgate, and early taillights. Paint thickness gauge readings are shown in the gallery to the right.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 17-inch five-spoke Volcano aluminum wheels with Wolfsburg Edition center caps are wrapped in 205/40R17 Pirelli radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cab has been refurbished with black vinyl bucket seats and black vinyl door panels with blue trim. Features include manual sliding windows, manual steering, a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, and a heater.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 120-km/h speedometer and a fuel gauge are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 73,011 kilometers (45,367 miles), but the true kilometrage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a rebuilt 1.6-liter air-cooled flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle.
UNDERCARRIAGE
