Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL convertible is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 backed by a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a soft top, power steering, an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo, power windows, a driver-side airbag, power door locks, heated rear glass, and four-wheel antilock disc brakes. Finished in champagne and equipped with a matching removable hardtop over a tan vinyl interior, this R107 SL comes from the selling dealer with an accident-free CARFAX report and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

According to the selling dealer, in October 2022, the champagne paint on both doors, both quarter panels, the fuel door, and the removable hardtop was touched up. Features include front fog lights, chrome bumpers with black trim, power mirrors, a soft top, and side impact strips.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of silver 15-inch Gullideckel wheels is wrapped in 205/65R15 Goodyear Reliant All-Season radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with tan vinyl bucket seats surrounded by tan door panels and trim. Features include power windows and steering, air conditioning, a center console-mounted automatic transmission shifter, a driver-side airbag, and an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 170-mph speedometer, 7,000-rpm tachometer, clock, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel economy are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 134,399 miles, which the selling dealer reports to be accurate. The last reported mileage of 134,665 was logged on the CARFAX report in April 2023. In December 1996, an Exceeds Mechanical Limits title was issued in Illinois.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a fuel-injected 5.5-liter V8 and backed by a four-speed automatic transmission. Earlier this year, the engine coolant expansion tank and alternator were replaced.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Mercedes was factory-equipped with a four-wheel independent suspension and a rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power four-wheel discs with ABS. The exhaust system exits at the rear.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The CARFAX report starts in August 1990 and shows an accident-free history with ownership in California and Illinois.

@oneprw – "According to the selling dealer, in October 2022, the champagne paint on both doors, both quarter panels, the fuel door, and the removable hardtop was touched up." Does this mean these panels/portions we're completely resprayed? Was the painting due to some type of accident damage? I find an unusual for paint to be redone on a Mercedes of this vintage and would be interested in the reason why so much repainting was done. Finally, how would you rate the match of the repainted areas? Thank you. ...

Thank you for your interest and question. The paint correction was professionally done and matches flawlessly. It was due to fading- no accident or damage.
