This 1981 Porsche 928 is finished in gold over tan leather and powered by a 4.5-liter V8 mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission with a fully synchronized rear transaxle. The car has been garaged during the seller's one-year ownership, and features a sunroof, power windows and locks, air conditioning, a Blaupunkt Bluetooth stereo, and newer tires. This 928 is offered with a clean California title in the seller's name.
The body is finished in Platinum Metallic with color-matching bumpers and black rear bumperettes. Photos show imperfections in the form of scratches and nicks on various panels, as well as corrosion below the rear window on the passenger side.
The doors, front wing and fenders, and hood were made of aluminum in order to reduce the car's weight; otherwise, the car is made of galvanized steel. 16" alloy "phone dial" wheels are wrapped in near new Goodyear Eagle Sport 225/50 tires.
The seats are covered in tan leather, and the carpet is a darker shade of brown. Photos show creases in the upholstery commensurate with wear but no evidence of cracking or tears. Factory equipment includes a tilt steering wheel.
Interior amenities include a sunroof, power windows and locks, and air conditioning. The seller reports that the latter blows cold and adds that a Blaupunkt Bluetooth-ready head unit will come with the car. Recent work consisted of window control and air conditioning repairs. The odometer shows under 141k miles which are original to the vehicle.
Power is provided by an aluminum 16-valve 4.5-liter V8 with Bosch's L-Jetronic analog fuel injection system, which produced 220hp and 265ft-lb of torque when new. Thrust is sent to the rear wheels through a fully synchronized rear transaxle with a Mercedes-Benz derived 3-speed automatic transmission.
Weight distribution in the 928 is 51% front and 49% rear, thanks in part to the use of a transaxle. Additional underside photos can be seen in the gallery.

I don’t believe it made the drive coast to coast.

@Michael781 – Hello again, well the auction will soon be over. I just have another question. Where was this car for well over its first 100,000 miles. Over the 1st decade is missing from carfax. I assume overseas, any info on maintenance there?? Thank you for the information. Have a good day. Michael ...
Unfortunately, I don’t have that information. Sorry.

@ruhulG – Yes the lights do come up without any problems. The leather is cracking on the dash, but that's expected from a car of this year. ...
Thanks again for the information.
@Michael781 – Thank you for the reply and happy to hear you have not noticed any running and driving issues. One more question that I am sure someone will ask any way. Do the lights come up without problem? Also is there a crack along the dash or is that just a line. Thank you and have a good day. ...
