13-YEARS-OWNED 1956 FORD THUNDERBIRD

OVERVIEW

This 1956 Ford Thunderbird was restored in 2000 and has been with the current owner for the last 13 years. It is powered by a 312cid V8 backed by a Ford-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering and a Continental kit. Finished in Fiesta Red and equipped with a manual convertible top over a red and white vinyl interior, this Thunderbird comes from the selling dealer with a body-color removable hardtop, rear wheel skirts, skirt storage bags, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

Originally equipped with a Raven Black body (code A) and a Colonial White removable hardtop (code E), the reportedly rust-free body was refinished in Fiesta Red (code K) during the restoration in 2000. Features include chrome bumpers and a chrome grille, a hood scoop, manual cowl vents, a fender-mounted antenna, a removable body-color hardtop, a manual-folding soft convertible top, and a Continental kit with a body-color spare tire cover and chrome trim. EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 15-inch chrome Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels is wrapped in whitewall radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

Originally equipped with black and white vinyl upholstery (code XA), the cabin is now furnished with a bench seat upholstered in red and white vinyl surrounded by red and white door panels and trim. Features include manual windows, factory power steering, a nonfunctional AM/FM/8-track radio, and a floor-mounted automatic transmission shifter. The selling dealer states that the AM/FM/8-track stereo is currently disconnected due to a wiring short.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 150-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 3,284 miles, which is the mileage accrued since the restoration was completed. The true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 312cid V8 and backed by a Ford-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include finned aluminum valve covers and a chrome air cleaner lid. The selling dealer states that there is a slow oil leak near the driver's side of the engine bay.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Thunderbird was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
