This 1929 Chevrolet Series AC 4-door Sedan underwent a body-off restoration under previous ownership in 2003 and was reportedly used in the movie "Road to Perdition" the year before. The seller, a licensed aircraft engine mechanic, removed and overhauled the "Stovebolt" inline-six in 2012. The work consisted of boring the cylinders, regrinding the cam, rebuilding the carburetor, and adding new aluminum pistons, rings, valves and guides, and camshaft gear. Additional new items included a new water pump, radiator, fuel pump and filter, battery, clutch, and throwout bearing, and more. This Series AC is offered with a restored 1929 California license plate, extra luggage rack, original parts, service books and receipts, and a clear California title in the seller's name.
The sedan is finished in Green with Black trim and exterior features include a driver-side mirror, windshield visor; driving lights, and chrome bumperettes front and rear.
4.75/5.00" Lester tires are mounted on factory 20" steel wheels. The full-size spare is mounted to fuel tank and supports the rear license plate frame.
The interior consists of gray mohair upholstery on the front and rear bench seats, a black rubber floor, and a wooden four-spoke steering wheel.
Mileage is estimated at 65,500, but cannot be confirmed. The gauges are otherwise reported to function properly.
Chevrolet introduced the "Stovebolt" push-rod inline-six engine in 1929, and it remained in production until 2001. This model features an overhead-valve 194ci inline-6 variant, which was removed and overhauled in 2012. Specific work included boring the cylinders, rebuilding the carburetor, regrinding the camshaft, adding aluminum pistons, new rings, valves and valve guides, cam gear, and more. Further additions included a new water pump, 2-core radiator, fuel pump and filter, starter, battery, and a heavy-duty truck fan.
The engine is paired with a 3-speed manual transmission, which has benefited from a new clutch and throwout bearing. Handling is managed by mechanical steering and brakes, and the seller reports that the fuel tank was boiled out.
A restored 1929 California license plate, an additional luggage rack, a jack and tools, original and miscellaneous parts, service books, and receipts of the work performed will go with the car.
