Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1953 Muntz Jet is one of an estimated 198 built over the model's 1949-1954 production run and was with the previous owner for more than 20 years. It is powered by a 317cid Lincoln V8 backed by a GM Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Features include bucket seats, a padded dashboard, manual steering, and manual brakes. Finished in Sunset Orange and equipped with a black lift-off Carson top over a black vinyl interior, this Muntz comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The body is finished in Sunset Orange. Features include chrome bumpers, a chrome windshield frame, and a lift-off black vinyl Carson top. A full walk-around video can be seen below.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of black steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and trim rings is wrapped in whitewall bias-ply tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with black vinyl front bucket seats and a matching rear seat surrounded by black vinyl door panels and trim. Features include manual windows and steering, a column-mounted automatic transmission shifter, a black center console, and a body-color dashboard with black vinyl padding.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges are located ahead of the driver. The odometer shows 10,568 miles, but according to the selling dealer, the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by an OHV 317cid Lincoln V8 paired with a two-barrel carburetor and backed by a GM Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. 

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Muntz was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drums. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
