OVERVIEW
This restored 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Sunliner is equipped with its original Z-code 390cid V8 and Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission, according to the selling dealer. Features include stainless steel rear wheel skirts, power steering, bucket seats, a center console, and power brakes. Finished in Rangoon Red and equipped with a power white convertible soft top over a red vinyl interior, this Galaxie comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the restoration over 10 years ago, the reportedly rust-free body was finished in the original factory color of Rangoon Red (code J). Features include chrome bumpers, a fender-mounted antenna, dual rearview mirrors, wheel well and rocker trim, a power white convertible soft top, stainless steel rear wheel skirts, and rear body trim. EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 14-inch Rangoon Red steel wheels is wrapped in 205/75 Firestone whitewall radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is furnished with red vinyl bucket seats and a matching rear seat, surrounded by red vinyl door panels and trim. Features include manual windows, power steering, a nonfunctional original AM radio, and a center console-mounted automatic transmission shifter.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 89,704 miles. According to the title issued in 2003, the odometer showed a reading of 84,500 actual miles.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by the reportedly original Z-code four-barrel 390cid V8 and backed by the reportedly original Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include silver valve covers and a silver air cleaner housing. The selling dealer states that the carburetor was rebuilt in 2022 and all fluids were changed in 2023.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Sunliner was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power four-wheel drum brakes. The dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
