This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has undergone a full mechanical restoration and is powered by a recently rebuilt Chevrolet 5.3-liter LS V8 and backed by an automatic transmission. Built as a true Trans Am at the Norwood, Ohio production facility, the car is equipped with factory Snowflake wheels, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, power windows, and a modern stereo. A Starlight Black with gold accents finish is complemented by a black cloth interior. This Trans Am is offered by the selling dealer with a clear Michigan title.
The car is finished in its factory shade of Starlight Black (Code 19) and features gold Trans Am striping and the iconic “Screaming Chicken” decal on the hood. Though the original motor has been removed, the factory hood and shaker were retained, giving the car an unmodified appearance. Quad headlamps are featured up front, along with orange marker lamps and aero spoilers at the side. The rear of the vehicle has an integrated flush-mount spoiler and there are Trans Am decals affixed to the trunk lid. A dual exhaust is equipped with outlets exiting below the rear bumper.
Factory 14” Snowflake wheels with gold accents are fitted to Kelly Charger raised-white-letter tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted discs in the front and drums in the rear.
The interior is trimmed black cloth (Code 19B) with matching carpet and a center sole with an armrest. A simulated carbon fiber overlay surrounds the aftermarket gauges, and other features include air conditioning, power windows, and a vintage-style radio with auxiliary input.
Aftermarket gauges are housed inside a carbon fiber-look bezel and consist of a 160-mph speedometer, a 10k tachometer, and those for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. 13 miles have been added since the engine rebuild, but total mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter fuel-injected LS V8 was sourced from a late model Chevrolet and has 13 miles since the recent rebuild. The block was painted Pontiac blue to retain a somewhat stock appearance, and the original shaker scoop, though not presently functional, was modified to accommodate the new motor. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4L60E automatic transmission with a console-mounted shifter.
