25-YEARS-OWNED 1981 DELOREAN DMC-12

OVERVIEW

This 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 gullwing coupe was with the previous owner for more than 25 years. It is powered by a rear-mounted 2.85-liter V6 mated to a three-speed automatic transaxle. Equipment includes rear windshield louvers, turbine-style wheels, power windows, air conditioning, and power disc brakes. Equipped with a stainless steel exterior over a gray leather interior, this DMC-12 is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX report and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The stainless steel exterior features quad headlights, Back to the Future-themed windshield decals, gullwing doors, black perimeter striping, rear windshield louvers, and dual exhaust outlets.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Turbine-style 14-inch front and 15-inch rear aluminum wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with power-adjustable gray leather high-back bucket seats, matched to the door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Features include power windows, central locking, power steering, a leather-wrapped and tilt-adjustable steering wheel, air conditioning, and black carpeted DMC-branded floor mats. The front cargo compartment contains a compact spare tire and a car care kit.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation consists of an 85-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 24,109 miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The rear-mounted PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) 2.85-liter V6 is fed via a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel-injection system and was rated at 130 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque when new. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted three-speed automatic transaxle.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Stopping comes from power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.

The CARFAX report displays just one record from a 1997 title issuance in New York. The dealer has provided a video with a narrated introduction, an interior tour, a start-up, and an exterior walk-around. A $220 dealer fee/tax will be added to the purchase price.
