426 HEMI-POWERED 1971 PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA

OVERVIEW

This custom 1971 Plymouth Barracuda is the result of a $200,000+ Pro Touring build that included custom paint, Billet Specialties wheels, a custom interior, a crate engine, and more. The fuel-injected Hemi 426cid V8 is backed by a TorqueFlite A-727 three-speed automatic transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. Features include shaved door handles with remote entry, power steering, air conditioning, power windows, a hidden Alpine digital AM/FM stereo, a narrowed rear axle, rear-wheel mini tubs, and Wilwood power disc brakes. Finished in green metallic over a black and gray leather interior, this Barracuda comes from the selling dealer with receipts, documentation, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the build, the body was finished in green metallic with matte black accent stripes and hand-painted orange pinstriping. Features include narrowed, tucked, shaved, and re-chromed bumpers; chrome rearview mirror housings; shaved door handles and locks that have been replaced with remote entry; a shaved trunk lock; and a custom-molded rear valance. EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of Billet Specialties 18-inch front and 20-inch rear polished aluminum wheels is wrapped in BFGoodrich g-Force radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with black leather late-model GTO power front bucket seats and matching stationary rear bucket seats surrounded by black and gray door panels and trim, and a matching headliner. Features include power windows, a tilt steering column, power steering, a three-spoke aluminum steering wheel with a black grip, a custom center console-mounted Hurst automatic shifter, a glove box-mounted Alpine digital AM/FM stereo, and a Vintage Air climate control system.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A set of AutoMeter American Muscle gauges that includes a 160-mph speedometer and readouts for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 1,278 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a fuel-injected Hemi 426cid V8 crate engine and backed by a TorqueFlite A-727 three-speed automatic transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, a body-color engine block and intake manifold, a custom air cleaner, a serpentine belt engine accessory system, tube exhaust headers, a polished aluminum radiator, and shaved body-color inner fenders.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Barracuda is equipped with an independent front suspension with tubular control arms and adjustable coilover shocks, and a narrowed Ford nine-inch rear drive axle mounted with adjustable coilover shocks. All suspension components and the underbody have been smoothed and color-matched to the exterior of the car. Braking is provided by Wilwood power discs. The dual exhaust system has a full heat wrap and exits at the rear.
