Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This restored 1953 Chevrolet 3100 five-window pickup has received several new parts and upgrades including a new frame, new wiring, and a leather interior. It is powered by a 350cid V8 crate engine backed by a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include a white vinyl tonneau cover, shaved door handles, custom taillights, a tilt steering column, a vintage-look digital radio, air conditioning, a relocated fuel tank, a Mustang II-style independent front suspension, and power four-wheel disc brakes. Finished in blue over a white leather interior, this Chevrolet comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration, the reportedly rust-free body was finished in blue. Features include a removed front bumper, a body-color grille, a shaved hood, a driver-side rearview mirror, shaved door handles, a shaved cab-mounted fuel filler, a stepside pickup box with a wood bed floor, a rear roll pan, and custom taillights. A walk-around video can be seen below.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of white steel wheels with chrome hubcaps is wrapped in whitewall radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with a white leather bench seat with blue piping, surrounded by white door panels, a white headliner, and body-color trim. Features include manual windows, a tilt steering column-mounted automatic transmission shifter, a vintage-look digital radio, new wiring, and air conditioning.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

An updated set of Dolphin gauges that includes a speedometer and readouts for the fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 11,315 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 350cid V8 crate engine and backed by a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, a chrome air cleaner housing, and a smooth body-color firewall.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The replacement chassis has been sandblasted, refinished in black, and modified to accept a Mustang II-style independent front suspension assembly and a solid rear drive axle mounted with a triangulated four-link setup. Braking is provided by power four-wheel discs. The dual exhaust system exits at the rear. The original cab-mounted fuel tank has been removed, a new fuel tank has been mounted at the rear of the chassis, and new fuel lines and a new fuel pump have been installed.
