Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1969 Toyota FJ40 has been with the seller since 1998 and is powered by a 1998 Chevrolet Vortec 5.7-liter V8 backed by a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission and an Atlas dual-range transfer case with a twin-stick shifter. Features include Iron Horse bucket seats, power steering, a family roll bar, Ford Explorer power disc brakes, Old Man Emu leaf springs, Rancho shocks, and Dana axles. Finished in red and equipped with a blue vinyl soft top and matching doors over a gray vinyl interior, this FJ40 comes with a clear title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

In 2004, the body was finished in a Ford Mustang shade of red. Features include a black front bumper with driving lights, dual rearview mirrors, a folding windshield, a blue vinyl removable roof with matching doors, an exterior-mounted roll bar, rear corner body armor, and a rear-mounted spare tire. The seller states that rust is present around the doors and the body has rust, bends, and ripples. Additionally, the turn signals and windshield wipers do not work.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 17-inch Weld wheels with manual locking front hubs is wrapped in 37-inch Goodyear Wrangler radial tires that were installed in 2000.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with a pair of gray vinyl Iron Horse front bucket seats. Features include power steering, floor-mounted automatic transmission and twin-stick transfer case shifters, a center console with a master electrical cut-off switch, a rear-mounted battery, and a family roll bar.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 100-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, temperature, and amperage are located ahead of the driver. With 3,000 miles added during the seller's 26-year ownership, the odometer reads 62,469 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 1998 Chevrolet Vortec 5.7-liter V8 and backed by a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission and an Atlas dual-range transfer case. The seller states that the engine and transmission were sourced from a 1998 Chevrolet van and had 29,000 miles on them when installed. The computer and fuse box came from the same van. In addition, the seller reports that the wiring is mostly complete.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Toyota is equipped with a Dana 50 solid front axle with 5.12:1 gears, a Dana 60 rear axle with 5.12:1 gears, and front and rear ARB lockers. According to the seller, the axles came from a Ford truck. Braking is provided by Ford Explorer-sourced power discs and a Chevy Tahoe dual-circuit master cylinder. The single-outlet exhaust system exits at the rear. The seller states that Old Man Emu leaf springs and Rancho shocks have been installed.
