Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1963 Plymouth Fury 2-Door Hardtop has been owned by the same family since new. As part of a gradual restoration process completed by Gearhead Garage of Sacramento, California, it has been repainted at a reported cost in excess of $14,000, furnished with a new interior, and equipped with updated climate control, engine, steering, suspension, and braking components. It is powered by the reportedly original 318cid V8 backed by a push-button TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering, a Vintage Air climate control system, a Hotchkis Sport Suspension kit, Wilwood power disc brakes, and a MagnaFlow dual exhaust system. Finished in Dark Metallic Blue over a blue vinyl and cloth interior, this Fury comes from the selling dealer with restoration receipts and California registration.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

Approximately eight years ago, the reportedly rust-free body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in the original factory color of Dark Metallic Blue (code EE1). Features include chrome bumpers with bumper guards, dual rearview mirrors, and rear body trim. The selling dealer states that one headlight needs to be replaced, the exterior paint has been ceramic-coated, and the trim has been restored.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 15-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels is wrapped in 225/60 BFGoodrich radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with a front bench seat that has been reupholstered in blue vinyl and cloth and a matching reupholstered rear seat surrounded by newer door panels and trim. Features include manual windows, a dashboard-mounted push-button automatic transmission shifter, power steering, a Vintage Air climate control system, an AM radio, Stinger X-Mat sound damping material for the floorboards, thermal insulation for the headliner, and newer blue carpeting and floor mats.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

The overhauled instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and gauges for the fuel level, temperature, and voltage. The odometer reads 31,549 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by the reportedly original, resealed 318cid V8 and backed by a push-button TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission equipped with a custom-built 2,200-2,400-rpm stall converter. Engine bay features include finned aluminum valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, an Edelbrock 600-cfm four-barrel carburetor, hardened valve seats, a custom camshaft and lifter set, a replacement timing chain, a custom-built alternator, an aluminum radiator, and an electric fuel pump. An oil change was completed in October 2022.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Fury is equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle with a replacement limited-slip differential. A Hotchkis Sport Suspension system, a firm-feel power steering box, and a quick-ratio Pitman arm have been installed. Braking is provided by power Wilwood discs. A MagnaFlow dual exhaust system exits at the rear.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The selling dealer will include restoration receipts from Gearhead Garage as part of the sale.

The electrical system in the Fury is fine. The headlight will be replaced also.

Curious about the headlight that is not functioning. If it is just the lamp why wouldn't you replace it? Or is this an electrical or wiring issue that needs to be resolved? Also are all of the gauges, turn signals, brake lights and other lighting / electrical systems in working order? Please advise. Thx

@Rolo111 – Can you explain why an auto with only 31,500 pro ported miles, owned by the same family since new and has had to be repainted, interior replacements ext. and mileage not be supported or authenticated via personal substantiation ??? Thanks ...

The odometer is only a 5 digit odometer, as the description states, 'True mileage is Unknown" The owner advises that the odometer has gone around once so mileage is closer to 131,000 miles. All of the work done to the car was a personal decision by the owner for sentimental reasons as the car has been in his family since new.
