OVERVIEW
This 1959 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite received fresh paint, a new interior, and engine and transmission rebuilds as part of a restoration completed in 2020. It is powered by an upgraded 1,275cc I4 backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Features include an AM/FM radio, rebuilt carburetors, and disc brakes. Finished in black over a black vinyl interior, this Austin-Healey comes with a new cabin tonneau cover and a clear title in the name of the seller's LLC. The seller notes the car does not have a soft top.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the restoration process, the body was stripped and refinished in black (code 122). The seller states that in January 2024, the reportedly rust-free exterior was touched up, wet-sanded, and polished. Features include a removed front bumper, a tilt-forward bonnet built by The MG Shop in Tempe, Arizona, a chrome grille, a bright windshield frame, and chrome rear bumpers.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 13-inch gray wire wheels is wrapped in 155R13 and 155/80R13 radial tires that were installed in February 2020.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin was furnished with new black vinyl bucket seats, new black door cards, new black carpeting, and a new black dashboard as part of the restoration. Features include manual steering, a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, and an AM/FM radio.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 100-mph speedometer, a 6,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 62,213 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a rebuilt 1,275cc I4 and backed by a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission. The seller states that in January 2024, all fluids were replaced, new spark plugs and an electric fuel pump were installed, and the carburetors were rebuilt.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Austin-Healey was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual discs. A single exhaust system exits at the rear.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
A new black cabin tonneau cover will come with the purchase of the car.
BID: $15,000
With about 20 minutes to go, I’ve lowered the reserve. Not there yet- but someone might just get a great deal today on a beautiful car.
The reserve has been lowered on this vehicle!

Good morning. Thank you for the continued questions and bids throughout the auction. With less than 5 hours remaining, hopefully the Healey finds a new home. @1931FordModelA, car doesn’t overheat in the summer thanks to the electric cooling fan. Since the carbs were rebuilt, car starts up quickly and doesn’t hold back. The rebuilt 1275 cc engine revs high and is surprisingly peppy. Having owned a few Sprites over the years, this one is a stand out in looks and performance. Car does not come with extra parts. I’ll be checking periodically to answer all questions.
Morning, do you have any heating problems in the mid summer? Those carbs are useally a pain in the ??? How is the response with yours after warm up? Do you have any of the old parts you took off the car thanks

Good morning. @Falcon0316, correct, the electric cooling fan comes on with the ignition. I found it runs much cooler when it remains on- especially with the summer heat in Phoenix. It is very quiet, so it’s not heard when engine is fired.
It appears in the picture the radiator fan switch is not wired, does the radiator fan continuously run? Or is there another switch for the fan?

Good morning. @1931FordModelA, the paint shows beautifully. I’d rate it a 9 out of 10. There are no chips in the front as I had the car professionally touched up, wet sanded and polished before putting it up for sale. A very similar 59 Buyeye ran across the block recently in Scottsdale and sold for 44k. They seem to be getting the credit they deserve based on recent auction sales.
On a grade opf 1-10 where does the paint stand and how much rock chips are in the front end thanks Va

Good morning. Thank you again for the continued bids. The car does have a tonneau cover that has been fitted to be water tight. It does not include a soft top, but they are readily available at Moss Motors if the new owner feels it needs one. With such a small car, in my opinion- it’s meant to be driven as a roadster.
