Vehicle Story

This 1970 Jeep CJ5 is a custom- and purpose-built example clad in Hugger Orange over black vinyl and powered by a 304ci V8 paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Performance upgrades consist of Hooker headers, an aluminum 3-core radiator, HEI distributor, Flowmaster exhaust system, and more. A 4” Pro Comp lift accommodates 33” Pro Comp X-Terrain tires and the CJ benefits from front disc brakes and power steering. The Jeep has been with the seller for nine years and is offered with two tops and a clean Colorado title in his name.

A professionally applied GM Hugger Orange respray is set off by black fender flares, a chrome grille, custom-painted decals on the hood, and aluminum diamond-plate along the lower rocker panels and rear quarters. A tow bar is affixed up front and a black Bestop full soft top and a bikini top will go with the vehicle.

The CJ rides on a custom 4” Pro Comp lift over 15” aluminum wheels wrapped in 33”x12.50” Pro Comp X-Terrain tires.

The interior is trimmed in reupholstered black vinyl with black rhino liner  on the floors. Other features include a center console with dual cupholders, dash-mounted auxiliary switches, a 2-speed heater, and tilt steering.

Instrumentation is framed by a 2-spoke steering wheel and includes a 90-mph speedometer as well as gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The 5-digit mechanical odometer reads 25k miles, but true mileage is unknown.

Power is provided by a 304ci AMC V8 with Hooker headers, an aluminum 3-core radiator, HEI distributor, chrome Edelbrock air cleaner and valve covers, and an electric cooling fan. Engine thrust is transferred to the rear or all four wheels via a 4-speed manual gearbox with “granny gear” and 2-speed transfer case with manually locking hubs and 4.56:1 gearing. Differentials consist of a Dana 27 up front and a Dana 44 in the rear, and a custom-built Kevlar clutch has been installed. An oil leak from the front main seal is noted to have been present since the seller acquired the vehicle.

Braking has been upgraded to discs in front and the brake cylinders are new in the rear. The CJ has power steering and a Flowmaster dual exhaust system.
