OVERVIEW
This 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle coupe was recently re-coated in an Audi-derived paint finish and is powered by an air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include chrome brightwork, dual exhaust outlets, and a heated driver's seat. Finished in Nardo Gray over a black vinyl interior, this Super Beetle is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The exterior was recently refinished in an Audi color called Nardo Gray. Features include chrome bumpers, fender-mounted marker lamps, a driver-side mirror, running boards, side moldings, and twin exhaust outlets.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Painted steel 15-inch wheels with VW-branded chrome hubcaps are wrapped in tires with significant tread remaining, according to the selling dealer.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with black vinyl high-back bucket seats up front, a matching bench in the rear, and corresponding trim for the door panels, dash, and carpeting. Features include manual-crank windows, map pockets, manual steering, two-stage heating for the driver's seat, lap belts, a passenger-side grab-handle, and a glove compartment.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer with an inset fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 18,882 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Output from the rear-mounted, air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted four-speed manual transaxle. A safety inspection was performed by the dealer.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The independent suspension architecture consists of struts with shocks and coil springs in the front and shocks, trailing arms, half axles, and CV (constant velocity) joints in the rear. Stopping is performed by manual hydraulic brake drums.
