Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1966 Ford Bronco Roadster is one of 4,090 produced and was restored 15-20 years ago. It is powered by a 302cid V8 backed by a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Features include a Warn winch, 35-inch Goodyear tires, power steering, and power disc brakes. Finished in silver over a gray cloth and black vinyl interior, this Bronco comes from the selling dealer with removed body tags, vehicle documentation, receipts, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration, the reportedly rust-free body was finished in silver. Features include black tube bumpers, a Warn winch, a fiberglass hood with hood pins, a folding windshield, a fender-mounted antenna, U13 Roadster door inserts, black fender flares, black rocker guards, a black vinyl bikini top, a black vinyl tonneau cover, and blue-dot tail lights. The selling dealer states that some chips and scratches are present in the finish. A walk-around video can be seen below.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of black 15-inch slotted aluminum wheels with Warn manual locking front hubs is wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with gray cloth and black vinyl Corbeau front bucket seats with Corbeau harnesses and a coordinating rear-facing Corbeau rear bench seat surrounded by black carpet and a black spray-in floor liner. Features include power steering, a Sidewinder automatic transmission shifter, a floor-mounted transfer case shifter, a black roll bar, and a JVC AM/FM/CD stereo.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A factory combination gauge that includes a 100-mph speedometer and readouts for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage is located ahead of the driver. An additional set of gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage are mounted in the center of the dashboard. The odometer reads 16,468 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 302cid V8 and backed by a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Engine bay features include finned aluminum valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, a Mallory distributor, a blue Moroso air cleaner housing, and an ARB onboard air compressor.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Bronco is equipped with Dana 44 solid axles and part-time four-wheel drive. Braking is provided by power discs. A dual exhaust system exits behind the rear tires.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

This Bronco was previously featured on AutoHunter but is now being re-listed at a lower reserve price. The dealer will include removed body tags, vehicle documentation, and receipts as part of the sale.

I would love to bid but . . . . The car is showing a California plate, so that is good. But for someone looking to keep the Bronc in CA, check out Dept. of Motor Vehicle codes Vehicle Code 10750 VC, Vehicle Code 10802 VC, and Vehicle Code 10803 VC. While repair work is an exception for VIN/ID plate renewal, on my 1966 car DMV interpreted that as major structural work (not just the blasting/repainting we did - panel replacement for rust was not where VIN was located) and would not register it. Classic CA DMV - had we acid dipped the car, wherein the aluminum VIN ect. plates would have been destroyed, then we might have had a winning argument (if there is such a thing with CA DMV.) Shiny new rivots on an old VIN plate would make me nervous if the car were inspected at some point. But perhaps the seller has this sorted out somehow. Having been through the DMV grinder once was an experience.

@Jaspar – Is there a vin number for this vehicle? It makes me a bit nervous that one is not listed in the description at the top of the page and that the body labels have been removed. I don't want any issues trying to register this vehicle in another state if I am the successful bidder. Please attach a photo of the vin number. Thank you, ...

The tags are shown in the last photo.

The vin tags were removed when the work was getting done on the vehicle. I bought the correct rivets to reattach the tag.
