OVERVIEW
This 1972 Triumph TR6 is powered by a 2.5-liter I6 backed by a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include bucket seats, rebuilt carburetors, power front disc brakes, and a four-wheel independent suspension. Finished in Pimento Red and equipped with a new black vinyl convertible top over a black vinyl interior, this Triumph comes with a tonneau cover, a top boot, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
In December 2010, the reportedly rust-free body was refinished in the original color of Pimento Red (code 72). Features include chrome bumpers, a driver-side rearview mirror, a new black vinyl manual convertible top with plastic rear windows, a flip-up fuel cap, and a black rear body panel.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 15-inch steel wheels are wrapped in 185/60 Yokohama AVID Touring-S radial tires that were installed in October 2022.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is furnished with black vinyl bucket seats surrounded by black vinyl door panels and trim. Features include manual windows and steering, a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, and a woodgrain dashboard fascia.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 140-mph speedometer, a 5,550-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, temperature, and amps are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 88,166 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 2.5-liter I6 and backed by a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. In 2022, the timing was adjusted and new spark plug wires, spark plugs, and distributor were installed. The seller states that the carburetors were rebuilt, the valves were adjusted, and the oil and transmission fluid were changed in 2024. Videos of a cold start and this vehicle being driven are available below.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Triumph was factory-equipped with a four-wheel independent suspension and a rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. The exhaust exits through a pair of pipes below the rear bumper.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
A tonneau cover and a convertible top boot will come with the purchase of the vehicle.

Springs are original. The shocks were replaced by the previous owner. Rides and handles well.
Any work done to the suspension, or is it all original?
Good morning. With a little over 3 hours left in the auction, please let me know if you have additional questions. It’s been a great week, hopefully this Rare factory Overdrive TR6 passes on to the next owner that appreciates it as I have.
BID: $18,500
@Ted79, yes- all electrical components function- lights, signals, and heater.
Does all of the electrical work? Lights, signals, and heater ?
Good Evening. Thank you for the bid. @Papfelbach, the car has been meticulously maintained over the years, and has never let me down. Obviously the drive will have wear and tear on the car being it’s 51 years old, but I believe it would make the trip. Would definitely be enjoyable.
Is this drivable back to Wisconsin? I placed an 18,000 bid so I’m seriously considering. I’ve owned one before.
BID: $18,000
Good morning fellow Tr6 enthusiasts. Thank you for the continued bids. @JD5280, I appreciate the offer. If you’re local to Phoenix,, I’d be happy to purchase.
Spell check got me. It’s not tan. It’s a black Tonneau cover.
Do you have a tan way cover? If not do you want one? I have an original black from a 66 TR4A I purchased new. It looks like it is the same as the below the windshield and on the boot snaps.

Good morning fellow Triumph Tr6 Enthusiasts. Thank you for the initial bids. Greatly appreciated. As you can see from the photos, this is a very nice driver quality tr6 with rare functioning factory overdrive. Car starts and runs at it should, shifts with ease , and brakes well. Runs smooth and straight on the freeway. I’ve left the undercarriage as I purchased to show it’s solid. No bubbling in the paint with only minor chips. An excellent driver to be enjoyed as is , or taken to the next Level.
