30-YEARS-OWNED 1976 CADILLAC ELDORADO CONVERTIBLE

OVERVIEW

This 1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible has been with the same family for 30 years and has logged 71,176 miles during that time. Since 2012, it has received more than $10,000 in cosmetic, ignition, steering, suspension, and braking updates. It is powered by a 500cid V8 backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include a power antenna, a power trunk lock, power windows and locks, power steering, power seats, rebuilt air conditioning, a tilt and telescoping steering column, and Hydro-Boost power disc brakes. Finished in Firethorn and equipped with a white vinyl power convertible top over a white leather interior, this Cadillac comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The exterior is wearing the factory-applied finish of Firethorn (code 36). Features include chrome bumpers, chrome rocker moldings, dual mirrors, a newer power white vinyl convertible top, and a power antenna. The selling dealer states that a few minor scratches and spots of touch-up paint can be seen in the gallery to the right. Additionally, the convertible top has one small tear in it.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 15-inch wheels with color-keyed full hubcaps is wrapped in whitewall radial tires that were installed in 2020.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The selling dealer states that the white leather upholstery on the dual power front seats and matching rear seat is original. Features include power windows and locks, power steering, a tilt and telescoping steering column-mounted automatic transmission shifter, an air conditioning system that was rebuilt in 2015, and inoperative cruise control. In 2020, the steering wheel was refinished and the following new parts were installed:

• Firethorn carpeting and floor mats
• Sill plates
• Chrome moldings
• Weatherstripping
• RetroSound AM/FM/Bluetooth radio
• Rear speakers
• Convertible well liner and drain trough
• Convertible top latches

In early 2023, the driver-side window motor, driver-side seat motor, and convertible top relay were replaced.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 100-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 71,176 miles, which the selling dealer reports to be accurate.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 500cid V8 and backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. The selling dealer states that the radiator and water pump were replaced in 2015. Four years ago, the carburetor was rebuilt, all fluids were flushed and changed, and the distributor cap and rotor, ignition coil, and spark plugs and wires were replaced. Earlier this year, the power steering box and the speedometer cable were replaced and the Hydro-Boost brake booster was rebuilt.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This front-wheel-drive Cadillac was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear axle. Braking is provided by Hydro-Boost power discs. The selling dealer states that the steering stabilizer and ball joints were replaced in 2012; a new steering dampener and rear air shocks were installed in 2015. In 2020, the front half shafts, front shocks, upper ball joints, and exhaust were replaced.
