OVERVIEW
This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am coupe comes with a shaker hood, a dual exhaust system, power steering, power windows and locks, cruise control, air conditioning, and power brakes. Power comes from a 6.6-liter V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Solar Gold over a tan cloth interior, this second-generation Firebird is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The Solar Gold exterior is complemented by multicolor hood graphics and body decals. Features include urethane bumpers, a chin spoiler, quad headlights, a shaker hood, vented fenders, color-keyed mirror caps, a rear spoiler, and a dual exhaust system.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Snowflake-style 15-inch aluminum wheels with gold pockets are wrapped in Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with tan cloth high-back bucket seats up front, dual seats in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, dash, headliner, seat belts, carpeting, and floor mats. Features include aluminum door sills, power windows, power door locks, power steering, a tilt steering column, cruise control, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation is housed within an engine-turned aluminum bezel and includes a 100-mph speedometer, a 6,000-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 97,953 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 6.6-liter V8 has been upgraded with an MSD ignition system. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted three-speed automatic transmission
UNDERCARRIAGE
Braking is power-assisted.

@GCC123 All I asked is for you to confirm which 6.6 engine was in the car? Pontiac or Oldsmobile? Not a difficult question. I was planning on bidding today but definitely not now.
@GCC123 – We will not claim something that we cannot prove with documentation... I recommend sending a 3rd party inspector for verification or don't inquire about a 45 year old anything at an auction. Thanks for your opinion, dealers feel that people shouldn't be allowed to post unnecessary comments without even placing a bid. Good luck with your search! ...
Therein lies the problem! Friend , surely you understand the problem, how can anyone expect to earn trust enabling buyer to move forward on a bid on a vehicle being represented without fundamental knowledge of it. If that was me selling that vehicle, I would know if that was matching #’s engine. If I didn’t, I would find out and convey the info to buyer that deserves to know. I will never submit a bid to a seller lacking Knowledge on a vehicle. That’s the first and only red flag I need to stay away. Good luck on your sale, cheers.
@Thorcen – @GC123 Many of us are potential bidders and want answers to our questions before we spend our hard earned money. It's very easy to get burned at an auction. ...
Unfortunately It is also very easy to misrepresent something and accidently burn someone without proper documentation. So once again, we will not claim something that we cannot prove without a doubt. Would rather it not sell than someone get something that isn't what was represented. Numbers matching shouldn't be a concern on a driver quality classic at the current bid price. I recommend sending a 3rd party inspector or buying outright vs an auction platform when searching for direct certainty.

@SoCalCrzr – How about the seller verifies and responds to simple basic questions instead of skirting around it. Why are these sellers allowed to sell anything they can’t properly represent?! ...

Can the seller confirm that this is the 403 Olds engine. By the oil fill location, it appears to be.
