OVERVIEW
This restored 1960 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite, completed in 2022, received many new parts including the upholstery, a wiring harness, a windshield, and a fuel tank. It is powered by a rebuilt 1275cc inline four-cylinder mated to a rebuilt manual four-speed ribbed-case transmission. Features include a heater, a wood rim steering wheel, manual front disc brakes, and custom slotted aluminum wheels. Finished in Pacific Blue over a black vinyl interior, this Austin-Healey comes with a tonneau cover and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
In 2006, during the body restoration, the reportedly rust-free body was refinished in Pacific Blue. Features include removed chrome blade bumpers, a stock mounted bonnet, a driver’s rear view mirror, a black vinyl cabin tonneau cover, and rear bumpers. Newly installed body features include a grille, a windshield, a fuel tank, and rear bumpers. The seller states that a touched up chip is present on the left door edge. Additionally, a convertible top and a top frame are not included with the vehicle.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 13” x 5” slotted aluminum wheels is wrapped in 185/60/R13 Signet radial tires. The seller states that the tires have an older date code.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is furnished with black vinyl bucket seats surrounded by black vinyl door panels and trim. Features include manual steering, a wood rim steering wheel, a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, and a wood dashboard. Newly installed interior components include a wiring harness, the upholstery, and a steering wheel.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 100-mph speedometer, a 6,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, engine temperature, and voltage are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 28,985 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown. The seller states that this vehicle has logged 200 miles since the completion of the most recent stage of the restoration.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a rebuilt 1275cc inline four-cylinder mated to a rebuilt manual four-speed ribbed-case transmission. Engine bay features include a finned aluminum valve cover, dual carburetors, and chrome air cleaner housings. An oil change was completed in February 2024 and the fluids were topped off at that time. In 2021, the engine and transmission were rebuilt with new clutch hydraulics.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Sprite was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual front discs and rear drums. A single exhaust exits at the rear. Components rebuilt in 2021 include steering, suspension, shocks, the rear axle, brakes, and hydraulics. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be found in the carousel to the right.

Thank you for your kind comments. It is a great car and lots of fun to drive.
Probably one of the nicest Bug-eyed Sprites I've seen in a long time... can only imagine the money you have spent with all the improvements... nicely done!! Beautiful machine. This truly is one of the most enjoyable sports cars I have ever owned... a real sports car experience. (My wife went ballistic when suggested owning one again... I went out with a different girl when I owned first one... perhaps is worried about old memories...lol...) There is one in Canada on Auto-Trader going for $80,000CDN (complete ground up rebuild) shows the range these go for... know Auctions are won in the last 3 minutes... Hope you get all the money for all the amazing work and love you have poured into this car. (as a fellow car lover I appreciate and admire this type of dedication...) Someone is going to have a ton of fun owning this. PS: the top was always a nightmare... used to drive home in rain with rain blowing over windshield rather than try and put top up. The side windows were only cheap plexiglass sliders from factory that went cloudy after short time... someone would do well just to have new one designed from scratch if such a feature is required... Good luck with the auction. This car deserves all the money.

The Prince of Darkness has left the car. It was converted to negative ground, and a new custom wiring harness was installed. Thank you for your bid and interest.
I owned a 1961 ... rebuild it from the ground up in my teenage years... know every inch of this crazy vehicle... (had to work on it on Thursday night to be able to go out Friday...lol...) When I told my girlfriend's parents we were late because of car trouble... it was true. You have done some very nice improvements... nicely done... she is beautiful Does it still have the wonderful "Lucas Electronics" (Positive ground...) or have you changed that?
