This 1951 Mercury 2-Door Coupe was restored in the early 1990s and was purchased by the seller from the original owner's nephew two years ago. Power is provided by a 350ci crate motor mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission, and while the body and frame are original, the car received donor items from a mid-'80s Cadillac. Upgrades include a Mustang II front suspension, a more modern steering column, an aftermarket heater, and a new air conditioning unit. This coupe was professionally repainted in red over a refurbished two-tone vinyl interior and is offered with a clear Colorado title in the seller’s name.
The body and frame of the car are original, and donor components from a mid-1980s Cadillac were used during the restoration. A red respray was applied, and it is complemented by largely original chrome brightwork. Notable features include headlamp eyebrows, stainless-steel side moldings, and fender skirts. Minor dings and blemishes are present, as shown in the gallery.
Factory 15” steel wheels with chrome-finished dog-dish covers are mounted to whitewall tires of unknown age.
The refurbished interior is trimmed in two-tone red and tan vinyl over a black carpet. A matching metal dash features a row of white-faced aftermarket gauges, as well as controls for aftermarket heat and recently added air conditioning. A GM steering column was added, and the fully carpeted trunk houses the battery and has a recessed compartment in the floor for the spare tire.
Instrumentation consists of aftermarket Dolphin gauges for speed, engine rpm, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level, and a Pioneer head unit has been installed. The odometer reads approximately 2k miles, though true mileage is unknown.
A Goodwrench 350ci crate motor was installed at the time of the restoration, and it is topped with a chrome air cleaner. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission.
The front suspension was sourced from a Ford Mustang II and equipped with rack-and-pinion steering.

@Lawmar – So this build is about 30yrs old. What were the recent upgrades and the road worthiness of the car? Good to go on a road trip? ...
The Mustang two front suspension and brakes, aluminum radiator, aftermarket heating and air conditioning, new fuel tank and battery system were done by zoomies hot rod shop in Denver right before I purchased it from the original owners nephew two summers ago. I would get in this car and trust it every day. It has never failed to start and run great even after sitting in the garage all winter.
