This 1960 MG MGA 1600 roadster was imported from England by the dean of a community college and freshened by the school's automotive department before being acquired by the seller over 30 years ago. The car is powered by a 1.6-liter inline-four paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, and features include a MOMO steering wheel, dual side mirrors, and chrome accents. This 1600 is finished in cream over a maroon leather interior and is offered with a clear Illinois title in the seller’s name.
As noted, the car was brought over from England by the dean of a local community college, a good friend of the seller's, and refurbished by the school's automotive department prior to the seller's purchase many years ago. The body is finished in cream with extensive chrome trim. The seller indicates a flaw is present under the paint on the hood (as shown in the gallery) and a blemish on the front bumper.
Factory 15” steel wheels have chrome center caps and are wrapped in tires of unknown age but with good tread life remaining.
The interior is trimmed in red leather with black carpeting and features a MOMO 3-spoke steering wheel fronting a white dash fitted with an aftermarket AM/FM/cassette stereo. Rubber MG-branded floor mats protect the front footwells, and a whitewall spare tire is housed in the trunk.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The 5-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 4k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 16GA 1.6-liter B-series inline-four is original to the vehicle and comes equipped with twin carburetors. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission with a console-mounted shift lever.
A full size spare tire is housed in the trunk.

Gearbox rear mounts are substantially different and lower on the MGB. Installing the MGB gearbox in the MGA generally requires cutting and welding at the frame cross member to install a removable cross member with the new mounting configuration.
@Church.brian – Do you know if it has an MGA Transmission or MGB Transmission? Thank you. ...
I do not know. Is there a way I could check for you?

@NormanP – Ok. Here are some #’s we found. 18ga-u-h 15826 located on plate near spark plugs on side of engine black. There is an 18 on top of the heads toward the passenger compartment. On the intake manifold there is a number 12h1398. The car number is gunk/72084. Hope this helps. ...
Indeed 18G is a early MGB 1800 3 mainbearings. Engine. Perhaps even with the MGB gearbox. Pitty Thknx for your info
@Church.brian – were you able to find the original steering wheel? ...
Found the steering wheel ‼️ It is bigger than the Momo one that is why they switched it out. Not sure about steering column. I did download a picture of steering wheel to site. Thanks
@Dutchmglover – On the righthandside almost under the heatsheald you can see on the cast iron engineblock 1600 (with the correct “6” and no 8 missing a part so it looks like a6) Picture is difficult. But your comment after correct inspections will do Thknx in advance (I understand you don’t have the correct carburetors) ...

@NormanP – Would a picture suffice? Tell me where to take the photos and I will. We bought this beautiful MG over 30 years ago from our good friend, the Dean of the Jr College that restored it. Let me know, and thanks for the great questions. ...
