Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1955 Chevrolet 3100 pickup was restored in 2014 under previous ownership and has been with the seller for the last three years. It is powered by a Thriftmaster 235cid I6 backed by a three-speed manual transmission. Features include a wood bed floor and side stakes, a radio block-off plate, a rebuilt carburetor, and an accessory external oil filter. Finished in red and white over a red cloth and white vinyl interior, this Chevrolet Task Force truck comes with a clear title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The reportedly rust-free body was refinished in red and white during the restoration process. Features include chrome bumpers, a chrome grille, dual rearview mirrors, a cab-mounted fuel filler, a red oak bed floor and side stakes, and white accent lettering on the tailgate. The seller states that a small paint chip is present on a rear fender.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 15-inch red steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and trim rings is wrapped in 670R15 American Classic whitewall bias-ply-look radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cab is furnished with a red cloth and white vinyl bench seat surrounded by red and white metal trim. Features include manual windows and steering, a steering column-mounted manual transmission shifter, a radio block-off plate, and a heater. The seller states that slight cracking is present around one of the dash knobs.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 100-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, amps, and temperature are located ahead of the driver. With 150 miles added during the seller's three-year ownership, the odometer reads 76,803 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a Thriftmaster 235cid I6 and backed by a three-speed manual transmission. The seller states that maintenance work completed since 2020 includes rebuilding the carburetor, replacing the distributor cap and wires, and changing the oil and oil filter.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Chevrolet pickup was factory-equipped with a solid front axle and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual drums. A single exhaust system exits at the rear.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

According to the seller, the VIN on the title reflects the number on the engine instead of the number shown on the vehicle tag.

@bosscross – does the truck smoke use or leak oil and does it drive and handle well ...

The truck does not smoke. It runs a little rich, so when it starts it leave a small block spot of carbon under the tailpipe. It does have a minor drip of oil around the bolt to the oil pan. Nothing major and can go a year without needing oil. It drives and handles like an old truck should. There is play in the steering wheel, which is expected with the older ones that haven’t been modified. It’s a lot of fun to drive.
