Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This two-owner 1966 Imperial Crown Four-Door Hardtop received updates to the upholstery, air conditioning system, suspension, and brakes within the last year under current ownership. It is powered by a 440cid V8 backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include power windows and steering, a tilt steering column, a vintage-look AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo, R-134a-compatible air conditioning, power locks, a power radio antenna, a rear defroster, and an updated dual-circuit power brake system. Finished in beige over a black leather interior, this Imperial comes with service records, the removed original radio, and a clear title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The color of the reportedly rust-free body was changed from Dove Tan (code 331) to beige approximately 15 years ago. Features include chrome bumpers, dual rearview mirrors, a power antenna, wheel well moldings, and rocker moldings. The seller states that a small round paint chip is present on the hood and nicks are present in the paint on the edges of the doors. In March 2023, the washer nozzles were adjusted and the rear light bulbs were replaced.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 15-inch steel wheels with full hubcaps is wrapped in 255/70 Eldorado Legend whitewall radial tires. A tire rotation was completed in March 2023.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with black leather front seating and a black leather rear seat surrounded by black door panels and Claro Walnut wood trim. Features include power windows and locks, power steering, R-134a-compatible air conditioning, a vintage-look AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo with the removed original radio's knobs, and a rear defroster. The right front window motor was replaced and wiring for the brake light switch was installed in March 2023. In October 2022, a headlight switch was installed. Additionally, the outboard bolster and seat bottom of the driver-side of the front bench seat were repaired in September 2022.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, alternator, temperature, and oil pressure are located ahead of the driver. The rolled-over odometer effectively reads 116,024 miles, which the seller reports to be accurate.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 440cid V8 and backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include an updated dual-circuit power brake master cylinder. The cruise control accelerator rod was removed during work completed in March 2023, making the factory cruise control system inoperable. In October 2022, the belts were replaced, a new air conditioning compressor and clutch assembly were installed, and the air conditioning system was recharged with R-134a refrigerant.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Imperial was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power drums. The rear brakes were adjusted and the following parts were replaced in March 2023:

  • Radius rod bushings
  • 1 rear brake hose
  • 2 strut rod bushings
  • Exhaust hanger

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Service records and the removed original radio will come with the purchase of the vehicle.

I wanted to note an issue o just recently discovered but that is not in the description. The passenger side door is stuck. It was fine when I put it under cover for the winter but I'm not sure whether the issue is with the door or the lock (it has power locks). All the other doors and door locks are working so I'm sure it's not a difficult fix but have not had time to look at.

@Tomvanhouten – From Tan to Beige? Yuck why? ...

Paint was done by prior original owner. My understanding from him was that the paint color was kept original. He gave me a lot of paperwork and I will try and locate the records for the paint job.
