This 1937 Dodge half-ton is an award-winning example that received a professional frame-off restoration in the early 1990s which features a steel body, wide-whitewall tires, a reupholstered interior, and a newer braking system. Power comes from a numbers-matching Canadian-built 218ci flathead inline-six paired with a 3-speed manual transmission which has accumulated 4,900 miles since being rebuilt. This pickup has been owned by the seller for 2 years and boasts a rust-free red body with black fenders and running boards over a gray interior. It is offered with factory shop manuals, a parts manual, and clear Arizona title in the seller’s name.
This MD-Series half-ton has an all-steel body with a 116-inch wheelbase and was the recipient of a full frame-off restoration in the early 1990s. The cab and bed were resprayed in two-tone red with black fenders and integrated running boards. The seller states that the vehicle has won multiple awards for its originality and was featured in a magazine at one point. The pickup has chrome bumpers both front and rear, as well as chrome trim for accent moldings on either side of the hood. A full-sized spare tire is mounted at the passenger side, and the interior of the bed is color-matched in red. The grille design was used across the Dodge lineup for 1937.
Factory 16” color-matched steel wheels with chrome Dodge-branded center caps are wrapped in wide-whitewall tires. This pickup was part of the MD-Series which switched from a car-style frame to a ladder-type truck frame beginning in 1936. The brakes were overhauled in 2017.
The interior is fitted with a reupholstered gray vinyl bench seat along with matching door panels and black rubber floor covering. The metal dash is color-matched in gray and features chrome accents at the center and a glove compartment on the passenger side. The seller reports lighting as functional.
Instruments are located at the center of the dash and include an 80-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit mechanical odometer displays 4,900 miles, which reflects the distance traveled since the restoration was completed.
The 218ci flathead inline-six is described as the matching-numbers unit, is said to have been rebuilt at the time of restoration, and bears casting number T38-25181. Per the seller, this engine uses a block that was customarily employed for larger-displacement units which was manufactured in Canada. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 3-speed manual transmission with a floor-mounted shift lever.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The sale includes Series M and FE 1937 factory Chrysler shop manuals and a parts manual for 1936-40 Dodge pickups. There are photos in the carousel illustrating the restoration process.
