Vehicle Story

This 1932 Ford Highboy Roadster is a custom build that incorporates a crate Chevrolet Vortec 350ci V8 powerplant into a Kilbourne body and that has been professionally painted. Modifications include Salt Flat chrome wheels with new tires, a newly-upholstered interior, a modern audio system, chrome engine components, and more. Performance and handling upgrades consist of an Edelbrock intake, Holley 670 cfm carburetor, Flaming River steering rack, chrome 4-link front suspension with power disc brakes, and a Ford 9" rear end on a chrome single-link suspension. This Highboy is shifted via a Turbo automatic transmission with a transmission cooler and is finished in Viper Red over Fawn leatherette interior. The Ford is now offered with a clear Oklahoma title in the seller’s name.

The Kilbourne fiberglass body was professionally painted Viper Red after being shaved and now wears custom pinstriping and a Sid Chavers tan cloth Boptop. Additional exterior features include chrome headlight surrounds, Bear Claw door locks, slim taillamps, and a polished dual-exit exhaust. The roadster does not have side windows.

Salt Flat custom chrome wheels are wrapped in new staggered-width tires. A Flaming River steering rack is fitted, and braking is handled by power-operated discs up front and drums in the rear.

The interior features a fawn leatherette from Ultra Leather, along with matching custom carpeted floor mats. A Blaupunkt AM/FM/CD head unit with smartphone connectivity and remote control has been added.

Instrumentation consists of a series of white-faced gauges set within the body-color fiberglass dash. These include a speedometer, tachometer, and readouts for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The aftermarket odometer shows approximately 2,800 miles, the total added since the build.

The Chevrolet crate Vortec 350ci V8 is rated at 330 horsepower has been upgraded with an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, a Holley 670 CFM carburetor, a chrome electric choke, and an electric fan. Chrome details include the pulleys, valve covers, dipsticks, and air cleaner. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a Turbo automatic transmission with a custom Lokar floor-shift lever, and the car has a 9” Ford rear with 2.79:1 gears.

A dropped multi-link chrome suspension on a solid axle is fitted up front, while a chrome single-link suspension with adjustable coilovers is out back.

The seller reports having over $75k in receipts for the build.
